Memory, they say, is a matter of practice and exercise.  If you haveThe wish and really make a conscious(有意识的)  effort, then you can quite easily improve your ability to remember things.  But even if you are successful, there are times when your memory seems to play tricks on you.
人们都说记忆是一种实践和练习。如果你希望去做并有意识地去努力,你就可以轻松地提高你的记忆能力。但即使你的记忆力很好,有时候记忆也会跟你开玩笑。
Sometimes you remember things that really didn't happen. One morning last week, for example, I got up and found that I had left the xiaogushi8.com door unlocked last night, yet I clearly remember locking it carefully the night before.
有时,你会记住一些根本就没有发生过的事情。比如说,上周的一天早晨,我醒来发现前门没有关,但我却清楚地记得前一天晩上我很小心地关上了。(没做过的事情却认为做了一笔者注) 
Memory “tricks” work the other way as well.  Once in a while I remember not doing something, and then find out a barber shop waiting for my turn to get a haircut,  and suddenly realized that I had a haircut two days before at a barber shop across the street from my office.
